Book Cover Question

The cover illustration for Black Hat book 1 is done (you can check it out here.) So I'm trying to get the cover for the book designed, how it will appear with book title and what not. And wanted to get people's opinions as to which version they prefer, or if I should try doing something else to it. Change something, add something, etc.

So here are the two versions I've come up with:

So please provide feedback.

I think the first version works better. The focus is on them whole you don't have all the negative space around them, it draws you in better (:
